It has been suggested that "Roses Of Picardy" is backed by Karl George, not Buddy Banks, but no trumpet is present and the piano playing is consistent with this session; however, it does feature clarinet, previously not noted. It seems very unlikely that this "mega-rare" album had more than one batch of sleeves printed, so the catalogue number confusion is common to all. Neither Turbo LP catalogue numbers TU-7009 or TU-7010 are accounted for by another issue.)

      ALBERTA ADAMS (Roberta Louise Osborne)

Born Indianapolis, In, 26 July 1922.
(NOTE: Year of birth variously reported - per metrotimes.com in 2005: "According to her manager, R.J Spangler, no one knows exactly how old she is; there are varying birth certificates with different birthdates. Adams says one document lists her date of birth in 1917, another says 1924. Spangler says sheís probably in her mid-80s. Ask Adams and she will tell you: '99 and one dark day.'Ē Pictures of Adams suggest a year in the 1920s to be correct.)

Chicago, Il, 2 August 1936, overdubbed hca & d, Chicago 1964
V/p with Hammie Nix, hca -1; Booker T. Washington, d.
A Sweet patootie -1 Ebony 1005
B Dupree blues Ebony 1005
(NOTE: "Sweet patootie" appears to be an overdubbed version of the pre-war master "Original sweet patunia (Patootie blues)", listed in Dixon, Godrich & Rye as by Little David, recorded in Chicago on 2 August, 1936, and issued on Decca 7211, mastered as 90813-B; "Sweet patootie" is a repeated phrase in the song.
http://myweb.clemson.edu/~campber/ebony.html sheds valuable light on the background to the Ebony label - Ebony 1005 was probably overdubbed at the same time as Ebony 1020 detailed on that website. However, no source is obvious for "Dupree blues"; it does not appear to be the original reverse of Decca 7211, "Standing by a lamp post", the lyrics of which do not include "Dupree", or derive from Little David's other issue on Decca 7270. By coincidence, David Alexander was also the real name of Black Ivory King, who further coincidentally played piano and recorded for Decca, but in Dallas in 1937. Given the previous entry of a piano playing Dave/David Alexander, one wonders if there is any family relationship between at least two of the three. The Ebony issue was produced by the Mayo Music Foundation of Chicago.)

(NOTE: Label of "Air plane blues" gives matrix as M 5094. The matrix series was used by the Bluestown label, and M-5091 is also allocated to Little Scotty's "Slow that disco down Part 1" on Bluestown 709. The absence of "Walter's blues" from the otherwise comprehensive Wolf CD begs the question whether it is actually an alternative titling of another recording. From an audio sample, the melody of "Saturday nite" ressembles that of Duke Ellington's "Don't get around much anymore", the lyrics of which [by Bob Russell] begin "Missed the Saturday dance".)

Coupling is "Easy goin' mama" at slower more insinuating tempo while a strong baritone sax meanders around her robust pipings."
The California Eagle [of Los Angeles] for 10 March, 1949, says regarding 3561: "Big Sis, exciting with her tenor sax solo heard between her vocal chorus."
A guitar is clearly present during the early part of 3561. Above personnel is conceivably the same as the following session.)
